Qatar Airways is planning to launch over seven new destinations in 2023, the airline’s group chief executive has said.

These include Chittagong, Juba, Kinshasa, Lyon, Medan, Toulouse, and Trabzon. The announcement came on the opening day of ITB Berlin 2023.

The chief of Qatar’s national airline, Akbar Al Baker, also announced flight resumptions and frequency increases during a press conference held on the first day of the travel and tourism trade exhibition.

Qatar Airways is resuming flights to 11 destinations, which include Beijing, Birmingham, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Davao, Marrakesh, Nice, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tokyo Haneda.

Meanwhile, flight frequencies will be stepped up in 2023 for multiple destinations, which include Athens, Belgrade, Berlin, Cairo, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, Khartoum, Madrid, Manila, Milan and Oslo, among others.

The airline is adding over 655 weekly flights to its summer 2023 schedule compared to last year.

“Qatar Airways is dedicated to enrich the global community which it serves. As we expand our fleet, network, partnerships and international presence we look forward to working together to deliver sustainable growth and a compelling future for the industry,” said Akbar Al Baker.

“We continue to look forward to our bright future here in Qatar, with multiple projects lined up for 2023 and beyond, such as the Formula 1 partnership and much more. Qatar will continue to be a global hub of connectivity and an ideal destination for tourism, long after the great success of the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”

Qatar Airways currently flies to more than 150 destinations worldwide, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.

Earlier this month, the carrier launched a new brand campaign in collaboration with Indian actress Deepika Padukone.
